Let's visit Downtown Lawrence's only grocery store: Jody's Market! This micro-grocery opened last summer (2024), with a mission to fill the gap for folks that live/work downtown. Located on 9th St. just off of New Hampshire St., it's geared toward pedestrians (though there are parallel parking spots right out front, as well as a 2 hour free lot around the corner), and mindfully designed with wide aisles for accessibility. They also bring a less-waste approach, with small batch orders and intentional product choices. They stock basic essentials, produce, frozen items, novelty snacks, grab-and-go foods, and lots more.
There's something for EVERYONE at Jody's - they've done a great job at making sure there that there are options like gluten free, vegan and vegetarian, regular and non-alcoholic beers, organic produce, and so much more. They have specialty snacks and ingredients like Momofuku noodles and chili crunch, a big selection of sardines, and canned Cinnamoroll matcha boba! Jody's Market stocks many locally sourced products as well, like Repetition Coffee, Wild Ivy Herb Farm, Stone & Sparrow flours, Wild Alive ferments, and many more.
